Frisomat builds unique storage hangar for recycling company

10 years RCYCL. This large sorting center on the outskirts of Eupen has developed significantly the last few years. A need for a new, multifunctional industrial building had increased because of the limited capacity of the previous storage hangar. Frisomat was in charge of the construction of the industrial building, which only took 5 months to erect.

Specific requirements

RCYCL had a few very specific requirements which had to be met. Thanks to the many accessories, Frisomat found no trouble to fulfil these. The project consists actually of two different hangars which are coupled together. There is the 2 storey office and the actual warehouse where all the goods are recycled.

The new flat roof building concept which Frisomat recently developed, Flatrigma, houses the new office environment. Adjacent to the offices, the warehouse is situated. An Astra-hangar, 25m wide, 65m long and 6m high. The collected goods will temporarily be given a place underneath the porch which runs over the total length of the building.

Success story

End of November 2010 there was the grand opening of RCYCL, in the presence of the Minister-President of the Government of the German-speaking Community. It has become an impressive building, co-financed by the German-speaking Community, the Walloon Government, the European Life-programme and the city of Eupen.

RCYCL is a real success story; all goods are collected in 13 adjacent towns, with over 165.000 citizens. In 2009, 2660t was collected of which 80% could be recycled. In cooperation with the Eupen Social Service, 13 employees and 20 interns are employed.

Thanks to the big success, a new sorting center will be start up in the region of Liège. Perhaps again with the help of Frisomat industrial buildings ?
